How to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in London

With just a week to go before The Queen's Jubilee celebrations kick off, I have compiled a guide to help those celebrating in London navigate the festivities and make the most of the glorious 4 day weekend!


Thursday 2nd June


Trooping the Colour


The Trooping of the colour has marked the official birthday of the British Soveriegn for over 260 years. Over 1400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians come together on this day in a stunning display of military precision, horsemanship and fanfare to mark The Queen's official birthday. Although this is a ticketed event by ballot entry, those without tickets can still catch the procession from The Mall or the edge of St James' park overlooking the Horse Guards. The procession begins at 10 am and ends at 12.25pm. Following the parade, the Royal Family will appear on the famous Buckingham Palace balcony.






The Platinum Jubilee flypast- unticketed


Comprised of a huge number of planes, including the famous Red Arrows this will happen shortly after the Trooping of the colour finishes with the estimated time of flypast over London being at 12.40-1.15pm. This promises to be an incredible spectacle.




Friday 3rd June


The Mayfair Jubilee party- unticketed


This street party will take place between 12pm -7pm on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd June and will be located on North Audley Street. The theme of the party is 'Let's go fly a kite', there will be a 200 ft long banqueting table laden with wildflowers and revellers will be offered the pick of Mayfair to eat and drink from. There will also be an abundance of live entertainment from jazz trios to strolling acts.



Saturday 4th June


The Platinum party at the Palace - Ticket required, also broadcast on BBC


The BBC will host the platinum party at the Palace event outside of Buckingham palace with a line up including Queen, Alicia Keys, Andrea Bocelli, Hans Zimmer and Diana Ross. This is a ticketed event allocated by Ballot but it will be live on BBC and BBC radio



Jermyn Street Jubilee fete- unticketed


The entirety of Jermyn Street will close to traffic and host a quintessential British Street party pop up stalls, food and drink and live entertainment.


Sunday 5th June


The Platinum Jubilee Pageant- open to public, no booking required


The bank holiday will culminate in the Platinum Jubilee pageant which will begin with the chiming of the bells at Westminster Abbey- to mirror the Queens' coronation. The pageant will combine street arts, theatre, music, circus, carnival abd costune to celebrate Her Majesty's unwavering duty. The Pageant will be located around Buckingham Palace and the surrounding streets and will feature a performance by Ed Sheeran.

Elizabeth Street party- unticketed


Belgravia's famous Ganymede is hosting a street party perfectly situated around the corner from Buckingham palace. The party will run from 11am to 6pm and the street will be decked in sensational bunting and tables laden with lobster rolls, coronation chicken along with English fizz. There will also be plenty of entertainment.


The Stafford platinum jubilee street party - £80 per ticket

London's The Stafford hotel will play host to an exclusive street party in their own courtyard with live enetertain ment, British party food and drinks.




Rosewood Jubilee courtyard party- £275 per ticket

A very special al fresco afternoon tea will be held in the iconic courtyard of Rosewood London. The celebrations will be inspired by a traditional British street party where bunting will adorn the belle epoque façade and the courtyard will be lined with floral filled tables, the sounds of live music, a red carpet own royal to commemorate her Majesty’s incredible 70 years of service.

12 p.m. – 4 p.m.



Lastly, parliament has passed an order to extend licensing hours in pubs, clubs and bars across England and Wales from 11pm to 1 am to mark The Queen's jubilee so wherever you can celebrate!
